Punjab Kings vs Chennai Super Kings Betting Tips 25/04/2022

Teams Status

Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings have bounced back from their own horror start that saw them lose all of their first four matches this season.

However, to say that they are back to their usual best would also be a bit of a stretch as their recent win over winless Mumbai came in the final over and was far from comfortable.

Their batting has done quite okay of late, if not decent. It’s their bowling that still has the ability to let them down. Chris Jordan, of all the people, is leaking runs at the rate of 10.51 an over.

Ravindra Jadeja has five wickets in seven outings but at least doesn’t go for big runs.

And then there is Mukesh Choudhary, who not only leaks runs like a sieve but also does not find too many wickets, although he did well against Mumbai in the last game and was the player of the match. Too much cannot be read from that performance as Mumbai are in a state of freefall and pretty much anyone can demolish their batting these days.

In all, it seems that Chennai’s recent resurgence has delayed the inevitable but not overturned it. An early exit still seems the most likely possibility.

Punjab Kings

Mumbai and Chennai have hogged the headlines so much that not many have talked about the poor form of Punjab Kings — a franchise that was supposed to earn a new lease of life this season.

They had been alternating wins and losses until last game when it was their turn to win but they ended up losing to Delhi Capitals. It means they are now on a two-game slide.

In both their recent losses, their batting has been horrendous. Especially, in their last game, they were bundled out for a mere 115 by the Capitals and ended up losing by nine wickets.

On paper, the Kings still look like a power packed unit but several of their stars are not performing or still searching for consistency.

Jonny Bairstow’s bat is not flowing runs and there is a genuine chance now that he could be replaced by Sri Lanka’s Bhanuka Rajapaksa.

Odean Smith and Vaibhav Arora are two more from whom the Kings have not received the kind of contribution they had hoped for.
